Excavation Dewatering with Chemical Injection

Contracted to design and build a temporary treatment system.

Overview

Contracted to design and build a temporary treatment system to meet NPDES permit discharge criteria, and capable of processing up to 400,000 gallons of BTEX and lead impacted groundwater per day.
BTEX (or hydrocarbons), lead
Traverse City, MI

Equipment

  • Chemical flocculant and coagulant injection system prior to weir tanks for micro and macro suspended solids removal
  • 100,000 gallons of influent storage/clarification with manifold plumbing and float controlled automatic pump-out
  • Sand filtration down to 25 microns with automatic backwashing followed by 1-micron bag filtration
  • MWT-10K2 mobile water treatment system with a zeolite & activated carbon layered bed for metals and organics removal followed by a second stage carbon polish- plumbed with dedicated backwash piping to allow for turn-key adsorber bed maintenance

Solution

Global Treatment Solutions was contracted to design and build a temporary treatment system to meet NPDES permit discharge criteria, and capable of processing up to 400,000 gallons of BTEX and lead impacted groundwater per day with a peak flow of 660 GPM for a period of 8 weeks.
