Solution

Global was contracted to design and build a soil vapor extraction system capable of 420 SCFM at 100 inches water vacuum at a blower speed of 1600 RPM to recover chlorinated volatile organic compounds from eleven vapor recovery wells. Global provided a belt-driven Roots 59 rotary lobe blower skid powered by a 20hp premium efficiency motor coupled with a variable frequency drive as the primary means of vapor recoveries.

The system utilizes a 110-gallon moisture separation tank with an integrated coalescing mist elimination pad, automated condensate pump-out, 3” extraction legs with pitot tubes for flow measurement, and an inline air filter. All SVE equipment is installed in a heated and ventilated steel frame building procured by Global. The system uses a PLC control panel and wireless remote telemetry along with temperature, pressure, and level switches to automate the process and alert the operator to off-nominal conditions. Discharge air from the blower skid is cooled to under 100 degrees Fahrenheit prior to VOC removal utilizing 7,000 pounds of granular activated carbon adsorption vessels. Global continues to service this system routinely.
