UST Corrective Action Site Decommissioning

Decommissioning of underground storage tank corrective action site.

Overview

Decommissioning of underground storage tank corrective action site.
Hydrocarbons
West Michigan

Equipment

  • Removed AS/SVE building after site remediation objectives achieved
  • Building will be repurposed for future use

Solution

Last month our treatment solutions team removed a system from an underground storage tank corrective action site in West Michigan that featured air sparge, soil vapor extraction, and groundwater processes.

Beginning in 2015, we utilized a rotary claw air sparge compressor to inject pressurized air into the ground, to volatilize hydrocarbons and enhance biodegradation. A rotary lobe blower extracted the contaminant vapors safely using lead/lag-activated carbon adsorbers. Condensate, impacted with hydrocarbons, was treated using a combination of sediment filtration and activated carbon treatment to remove traces of hydrocarbons prior to discharge.
